High Temperature Hydrogen Attack (HTHA) of boiler tube

High temperature hydrogen attack (HTHA) due to hydrogen-induced corrosion is one of the most frequent mechanism of boiler tube failure, and according to the international experience, remains as one of the leading causes of frequent outages of boiler tubing system.

To clarify root causes and complexity of problems associated with different hydrogen damages (hydrogen embrittlement, hydrogen blistering, HTHA…), it is necessary to apply a multidisciplinary approach which comprises research in the field of material quality, boiler design, boiler operation and maintenance.
